US Gambling Tax & UK Players
Under the US/UK tax treaty, UK residents are exempt from the 30% withholding the IRS normally applies to foreign nationals' gambling winnings.
To claim treaty benefits, complete Form W-8BEN before you collect a tournament payout, and keep any Form 1042-S issued for your records. Do it right and Brits keep 100% of their tournament winnings at the cage.
UK players also have no HMRC liability on gambling winnings — what you cash is what you keep.
